Art is Our Voice

Art is Our Voice
The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web. -Pablo Picasso

Being Ourselves

Stefanie- Being Herself !

When I uploaded the collection of photos from last week's group I thought how amazing everybody is- talented, enthusiastic, open to new experiences, tolerant, and really good at being themselves.  As a psychotherapist I often ask people the same question, "What are you like when you're just being yourself ?"
All of us get caught up with being many things to many people while on autopilot just making it through the day.  But- it's very important now and then to return to that part of you that's been there all along, waiting for you to return. And in that moment you feel it- you recognize that you are it and that you've been here all along, waiting for your return. It's when we are in that place with ourselves that we feel love, compassion, relief and goodness for ourselves, others, the earth, and anything else that is a part of you or your life waiting to be rediscovered.

Living creatively is really important to maintain throughout your life. And living creatively doesn't mean only artistic creativity, although that's part of it. It means being yourself, not just complying with the wishes of other people.
