Nai lives in our neighborhood and even though she is deaf she's quite capable of communicating her needs. Nai spends her days collecting cans and bottles to make a little money whenever she can. She makes herself at home on our front porch where she has created a studio to paint and sew. She's been a part of our family for years. Recently I gave her some dimensional paint to experiment with. She started making dots on paper. She has created so many pieces now I've lost count of the number. When I first saw the pieces they reminded me of her hand stitches she uses to alter clothing she finds in the garbage. However, the other day she had a packet of bean seeds and displayed how she would plant them in rows. So, all the dots represent seeds that have been placed in the ground. Nai seems to find this form of painting to be relaxing. She'll spend hours working on the porch carefully placing her dots on multiple sheets of paper. Here are some more photos to share:
Great job Nai Nai !
